Herston 24-Hour Car Park Solar and Battery

Hembrows were engaged by Silverstone Developments to provide a design and construct solar and battery solution for a new multi level 24-hour car park facility in Brisbane adjacent to the RBWH.  Dexus, who ultimately own the building, required a system that was capable of providing a carbon neutral solution in order to meet environmental performance criteria for the asset. In total, 10 x Tesla Powerwall 2 units were installed along with a 99.9kW solar system, reducing grid reliance to almost zero for most days of the year.

“Silverstone Developments pre-sold this asset to Dexus while the building was under construction.  Dexus had a clear goal to achieved a low-carbon footprint through the use of solar and battery storage and in turn Silverstone engaged Hembrows to design and adequate system.  The final result was the installation of a 99.9kW PV system and 135kWh of battery storage (10 x Tesla Powerwall 2 batteries in series), with the building currently operating at over 95% grid independence.  Even on cloudy days, the balance of solar energy is to be exported to the grid ensuring that the building is producing more than it consumes at all times.” - Luke O’Dwyer from Silverstone regarding the requirements of the system.
